CHESS TOURNAMENT 2009 The Battle for Quirino Chess King Crown

Quinoy Chess enthusiasts, get ready for the come-back of the year-end tournament to determine who will be the next Quirino Chess King and bring home the legendary “kamagong” icon.  The large size wooden King piece, which represents the crown as the reigning Chess Champion, is currently held by Engr. Jun Marzan, who won the 1997 year-end tournament.  After more than ten years, an initiative is under way again to revive the  league.

This year’s tournament is courtesy of Mr. Erwin Aragon, and Mr. Nick Marzan and their High School Batch  (ECRMNHS 1993).  More donors are expected to pour in to support the event, specially balikbayans and chess lovers.

The tournament will be entitled “The 2009 Year-end Chess Battle”.  This will be held from December 26 to 29, 2009 at the Senior Citizen’s Building, Brgy. Plaza. (Date and venue subject to changes).

The contest will consist of a Main Battle which is open to all ages, with 30 minutes time control for each player (Rules on time control is still subject to changes) and optionally a Junior Battle for up to 12 years old hopefuls.  The contest is open only for present or previous residents of Brgy. Quirino.  Previous residents who have acquired residence outside Brgy. Quirino may join as long as they have an existing ancestral house in Qurino where they could keep the legendary transferrable trophy.

Prizes at stake include Php3,000 and trophy for the Champion, Php2,000 and trophy for First Runner Up and Php1,000 and trophy for the Second Runner Up in the Main Battle.  The Champion  will also bring home for custody the Quirino Chess King Icon.

Stallion Proposes QUINOY HENYO game

Bukas para sa lahat ng Quinoy (mamamayan ng Brgy. Quirino).  Dalawang Tao sa bawat team, kailangang galing sa isang purok.  Hindi kasali ang Festejos, Brgy. Officials, Purok Leaders, at members ng committee.

Schedule: Purok Screening- Saturday afternoon, August 1.  Final – Sunday afternoon August 2

Mechanics:

Ang Quinoy Henyo ay local version ng Pinoy Henyo na napapanood sa Eat Bulaga (GMA7).  Dalawang pares ang maglalaro.  Ang isa ay siyang TAGAHULA at ang isa ay ang TAGASAGOT.  Ang layunin ay mahulaan ng TAGAHULA ang isang salitang ibibigay ng tagapangasiwa sa pinakamaikling panahon.  Ang salita ay nakasulat sa isang board na nakalagay sa itaas ng ulo ng TAGAHULA ngunit hindi nya dapat nababasa o naririnig upang mapanatiling lihim ito sa kanya, ngunit nababasa naman ito ng TAGASAGOT upang malaman nya ang ibibigay na kasagutan sa itatanong.  Huhulaan ng TAGAHULA ang salita sa pamamagitan ng pagtatanong sa TAGASAGOT kung ano ang salitang ito– ang deskripsyon o paglalarawan, kategoryang kinabibilangan, at iba pang makakatulong –upang mahulaan nya ang nasabing salita.  Ang TAGASAGOT ay magbibigay lamang ng kasagutang OO, HINDI, o PWEDE sa bawat tanong ng TAGAHULA upang mabigyan nya ito ng tip o clue para mahulaan ang salita.  Ang pinakamabilis makahula ang siyang tatanghaling panalo na malalaman sa papamagitan ng naitalang haba ng pagkahula sa minuto at segundo.

Example:   Salitang Huhulaan:     “Pusa”

Tagahula:  “Tao ba ito?”                        Tagasagot:  “Hindi!”

Tagahula: “nakakain?”               Tagasagot:   “hindi”

Tagahula:   “hayop ba ‘to?”                   Tagasagot:  “oo!!!”

Tagahula:  “nauulam ba ‘to?”                 Tagasagot:  “pwede…”…….

Magkakaroon ng Screening o Paunang Paligsahan para makuha ang Finalist ng bawat purok.  Bawat mapipiling finalist ng purok ay mabibigyan agad ng premyo at may chance na maglaro sa final game ng Quinoy Henyo.

Katuwaan (optional)

Sa Pinoy Henyo ng Eat Bulaga ang isa sa mga dabarkads ay isinasalang sa chamber kung saan sila ay binubuhusan ng malapot na likido kung ang naglalarong pares ay bigong mahulaan ang hinuhulaang salita.   Sa Quinoy Henyo final game kung saan ang bawat purok ay may finalist, ang purok leader o kahalili nito ang isasalang at bubuhusan ng TUBIG ng mga kapwa purok leader kung hindi mahuhulaan ng team nito ang hinuhulaang salita sa loob ng takdang panahon.

Bonus Portion

Ang bonus portion ay lalaruin ng nanalo sa final game at may karagdagang premyo sa bawat bilang na mahuhulaan.  Dito, ang huhulaan ay ang KATEGORYA at hindi iisang salita, samantalang tig-isang SALITA naman ang ibibigay na tip o clue upang mahulaan ang kategorya.  Samakatuwid ang isa sa pares ay TAGAHULA at ang isa ay TAGABIGAY NG SALITA.

Example:   Kategoryang huhulaan:  “Mga Bagay na Kulay Pula”

Tagabigay ng Salita:   “puso, mansanas, dugo, rose,……”

Proposed Prizes:  (Subject to changes depending on budget)

Purok finalist =P500 each.   Final winner =P1000   Bonus = P100 per correct answer x 5 items
